Day 11 – Power Source

Scripture

2 Corinthians 4:6,7

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us

 John 8:12

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

Thought for Today

Have you ever wrestled with a circumstance, complained in frustration, or felt helpless? Many have exclaimed, “I’m doing the best I can!” when their best efforts fail.  Most humans have the tendency to try to solve problems on their own. Even the most mature Christians have been tempted to solve a situation themselves, especially when a sudden problem takes them by surprise.

The Almighty God knows our weaknesses. Therefore, He reminds us that He supplies all the answers to our questions and solutions to our problems. Trusting and recognizing Him, and not what we understand, puts us on the path to limitless power (Proverbs 3:5,6). We may be gifted with intelligence, education, or many skills. God, however, is the very source from which all things exist. He knows the before, during, and after throughout eternity.

Power is an eternal and inherent trait of God (Romans 1:20). He encourages us to draw upon His power and wisdom, which never fail. As the Origin of dynamic power, God knows that without him we have no light in the darkness. The wonderful news is that we don’t have to rely on our finite minds and frail bodies to figure out what to do. The Creator has placed the knowledge in our hearts that God’s dazzling glory shined bright in the face of Our Savior, Jesus Christ!

The Apostle Paul writes that we are privileged to carry this treasure in our earthen vessels. He makes it clear, however, that the excellence of this power is of God. It is not of us, for we are dim and powerless without the light of the Father and redemption through His Son. Having accepted Jesus, you have been born again into His Kingdom of marvelous light. You have access to the power of the Holy Spirit Himself (Acts 1:8).

In your weakness, the power of God is perfectly strengthened (2 Corinthians 12:9). You do not have to function independent of love, mercy, and help from the All-Powerful One in times of trouble or indecision. He is willing to pour out the spirit of power, along with love and a sound mind. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you with all you need to make your paths straight. He is worthy of all praise!

You are the Source of my strength

You are the Strength of my life

I lift my hands in total praise to You!

Time to Pray!

Gracious Father God, we are grateful that You allow us to lean on You rather than ourselves. Thank you for access to Your power from heaven to be able to do all things through Your Son who strengthens us. We worship You in humility and honor in the name of Jesus. Amen
