Lift up your heads, O you gates!
And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
The Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O you gates!
Lift up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
He is the King of glory. Selah
Reflection
In this powerful passage the Psalmist makes a triumphant call for the gates of Jerusalem (Heaven) to open for the glorious entry of God, the King of Glory. He asks “Who is the King of Glory” two times and responds “the Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. This description refers to the return of the Arc of the Covenant and foreshadows the ascension of Jesus the Christ. The message to believers is that we must make room for Christ, the King to enter and rule in our hearts each day as our King and Lord. How do we do that? Through spending time with the Lord in His Word daily. By confessing and repenting our sins daily asking Him to refill us with the Holy Spirit. The King of Glory will come in when your heart is pure and your hands are clean. King Jesus who is strong and mighty and mighty in battle will fight your battles and defeat Satan and every enemy that comes against you giving you victory through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So lift up your head open your heart child of God and King of Glory, the Lord of Host will come in.
Lord God, thank you for reminding me that You are the King of Glory. You are mighty to save and mighty to deliver me in every aspect of my life. I open the doors of my heart and ask You to come in to conquer my soul and defeat my enemies. I confess and repent of my sins and faults and will walk in victory because of You. Lord Jesus, You are Lord of my life and I surrender all to You. Please use me today and every day to lead others to you. Amen!
