RESILIENCE: Real Bounce-back-ability!

Business Resilience | McKinsey & Company

Transforming Truth from God’s Word

Resilience is defined as one’s ability to rebound or come back from challenges or difficulties in life. Some people refer to it as bounce-back-ability. However, these definitions of resilience make the assumption that we possess the ability to be resilient in our own strength. Not so! We are not sufficient in and of ourselves. Only through receiving and living in God’s power and His process can a person move from surviving life’s struggles to thriving in the abundant life that Jesus has promised us.

In Romans 5, Apostle Paul writes that believers should rejoice and count it an honor (for Christ’s sake) when we are dealing with difficulties, pain and suffering. This is because we are at peace with (or reconciled to) God through Jesus Christ or Lord. Jesus provides access to God’s abundant and sufficient grace that enables us to stand, endure and even thrive in times of adversity. And in these seasons, He matures us spiritually by using our sufferings (tribulation) to produce perseverance, character and hope. Now Hope does not disappoint because God literally pours out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. Wow! That’s Real Bounce-back-Ability!!!

Romans 5:1-5

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

A Psalm for Today

Psalm 27:13-14

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!

God’s Promises for Today

John 10:10

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
